  • Product Description: The year was 1992. Again. I know. We probably should have just named this company 1992, but too late for that now. Anyway, in 1992, Steve Rocco decided that he was going to expand the business of his El Segundo Hat Factory, which was already making all the hats, Ghetto Wear, Blind jeans, and Fuct apparel items, to include cut-and-sewn T-shirts. While I'm not 100-percent on this memory, I want to say we were touring the manufacturing facility one afternoon when Rocco asked Spike Jonze what he should call the T-shirts. Spike immediately piped up with "Bob," and so it came to pass—it being "Bob Shirts," the most magical garments in all the world. How so? Well, most T-shirts would shrink a bit once you washed them, but not Bob Shirts! They expanded in size! It was the most bizarre thing. Straight down to your knees they would go, which was perfect for the time because most every skater—no matter what their physical proportions—wore XXL clothing. We looked ridiculous! But never mind the clown show for now, because Rocco instantly had the flexibility to dye his T-shirts any ol' color he wanted—or we wanted, as he often asked us to select some random Pantone chips and give 'em to the factory dyers—as he was no longer held hostage by the industrial apparel complex. Everything could now be done on a whim, be it the addition of "ringer" collars or stitching in contrasting thread colors, and, at one point, a long sleeve hooded T-shirt was even added to the slovenly mix. Yes, the very same style you're looking at here, straight outta 1992, minus the moth holes and hefty vintage price tag. —Cliver
