- Product Description: All breadcrumb trails aside, I've found myself going down a rabbit hole of books published about Charles Manson and his notorious Family this past year. The starter plate was Vincent Bugliosi's infamous Helter Skelter, which is okay for what it is, a line by line "factual" account of all that took place in the latter half of 1969, all skews aside. Next up under my reading rainbow was Chaos: Charles Manson, the CIA, and the Secret History of the Sixties, by Tom O'Neill, a deeper if not fascinating revisitation of, well, everything and the kitchen sink. I don't even know where to begin with that one, but it's Pepe Silvia to the nth chaotic degree, which is pretty rad even if a lot of threads are left dangling at the end of its 528 pages. Currently, I'm knee deep into The Family: The Story of Charles Manson's Dune Buggy Attack Battalion, a considerably more loosey-goosey approach to the Manson Family saga woven together with a certain amount of '70s cheek by Ed Saunders. From the title alone it's not hard to guess where the inspiration for this graphic came from, but it's clearly a product of the cumulative effect on my psyche. —Cliver
